Alexey Buravkin

Dr. Alexey Buravkin was born on March 28, 1963 in the city of Minsk.

In 1985 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Belarusian State University. Diploma specialty is "Mathematics".

Since August 1985 A.Buravkin worked in the Institute of Technical Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Since November 1988 he was a postgraduate of this Institute. He has defended PhD thesis "Projection problems of geometric modeling of design objects based on algebraic varieties".

Since 1991 till September 1993 Dr. Buravkin was a lecturer, then an associate professor of the Department of Engineering Graphics of  the Belarusian State Polytechnic Academy.

Since1993 he worked in the Minsk Institute of Culture as an associate professor of the Department of Informatics. In 1995 he headed the newly organized Department of Information Technologies in  the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts.

In 1998 Dr. Buravkin was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in the specialty "Informatics, Management and Computer Engineering".

Since February 2005, Dr. Buravkin was the Head of the Department of Electronic Processing of the funds of the National Library of Belarus.

Since April 2008 Dr. Buravkin worked at Open Joint Stock Company  "Agat-System" as the Head of sector. Then he held the positions of the Head of the Department of Informatics and Systems Analysis of the Institute of Culture of Belarus, the Head of the Center of Information Technologies of the Academy of Postgraduate Education.

Since November 2013 Dr. Buravkin worked  as a leading researcher of the State Scientific Institution "United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" (UIIP NASB) .

Research interests of Dr. Buravkin include the theory of systems and modeling of information processes, the development of scientific and methodological foundations for the design and operation of automated information systems for various purposes. He published over 100 papers, including a monograph. He trained 1 PhD student in technical sciences.

He periodically presented the developments of UIIP NASB at international forums and exhibitions in the Republic of Belarus and abroad, was the deputy chairman of the organizing committee of the VII Belarusian Space Congress.
